The Miniature Earth
Friday, December 7, 2007 at 10:00PM Thanks for the tip K.
In the opening screen, some background information on the production of this slidedeck is given. The parent website is listed - www.miniature-earth.com. I decided to check it out and discovered that for 5USD I could download the presentation to my computer. The download appearing on my blog is here for free, courtesy of YouTube. I’m assuming that someone paid the 5$ and then posted it to YouTube.
It’s great that YouTube is getting the video in the hands of folks, who will ultimately read the messages - “Appreciate what you have” and “Do your best for a better world”.
In an effort to do just that, I’ve paid the $5, and a portion of that will be directed to improvement initiatives.
The world is our world, and I’ve come to believe that responsibility starts with each of us. None of us is perfect. In my mind the doling out of blessings seems random and uncomprehensible at times, which forces me to just accept and submit to a belief that there is something beyond me. Ultimately, I consider myself one of the haves among a world full of haves and have nots, and for that I am thankful of the reminder to be grateful. While there are the chosen few out there who are gifted to give everything they have, I don’t think that we’re all designed to be that way. So, I’m choosing to give cognizant of the fact that I am truly lucky to have something to give.
While there are those out there who spoil with their corruption and greed, I remember that the world is designed with a big mixture of people, things, feelings, tensions, schtuff - there’s something beyond me that has that all figured out. I just need to do my bit. Over to you to do yours.
Whatever

If this world spends $100million on developmental aid in a year, the 75 people without a home will still be homeless after the 1 person NGO spends most if its budget on advertising and salary.
The 1 trillion they spend on defence (which would be for the 1 or 2 soldiers in this bunch) would still be miss-spent on frivolous capital contracts and pointless recruiting programs.
Finally,
The six people who own 59% of the world still won't do anything useful with it.
